Celebrate Scotland’s local produce at exciting food and drink events held throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. From the thriving festival city to the smaller towns and villages, a feast awaits.

Scotland’s capital plays host to an exciting array of festivals throughout the seasons. You can enjoy the largest farmers’ market in the country, which takes place on Castle Terrace every Saturday, while there are also many special foodie events on offer elsewhere in the area , particularly during the summer months.

Taste of Edinburgh is now held annually in one of the city’s beautiful parks, bringing a vibrant atmosphere and plenty of eating, drinking and entertainment to the capital. You can browse the best food and beverages showcased by over 100 producers, sample some of the produce and purchase delights to take home.  Why not savour small taster dishes served al fresco by many regional restaurants and watch world-class chefs perform cookery demonstrations throughout the three days?

August will see the return of Edinburgh’s Foodies Festival in Holyrood Park where you can sip stylish cocktails, enjoy signature dishes inside the restaurant tents and gain some insider tips to take back to your own kitchen. Children will love the fun masterclasses while there are also international flavours dished up in the world food pagodas.

Head out of the centre to Ingliston and experience the Royal Highland Show. More than 100 exhibitors attend the show each year and there is a Food Hall showcasing the finest produce in Scotland’s larder.

East Lothian plays host to the 3 Harbours Arts Festival in Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton, celebrating the fishing heritage of the region. Food is a highlight at this festival where you can sample the best fish on offer and learn more about the creativity of the locals.

Historic houses and castles also hold events with those such as Hopetoun House providing a magical setting for you to sample great local produce. Hopetoun Farm Shop boasts tasting events throughout the year, featuring everything from luxury ice cream to smoked fish and game.
