Don’t miss the chance to meet two of the world’s rarest and most captivating animals in Scotland’s capital.

Edinburgh Zoo is now home to two giant pandas, which arrived in December on a specially-charted jet all the way from China. You can now see these adorable creatures named Tian Tian and Yang Guang up close in their state of the art enclosure, complete with a pool and cave.

An exciting addition to this internationally renowned zoo’s impressive menagerie of endangered and exotic species, Tian Tian and Yang Guang - meaning sweetie and sunshine - are expected to make Edinburgh their home for the next decade. Part of a global conservation initiative to boost the declining population of their species, it is hoped that the female, Tian Tian, will give birth to cubs - the first to be born in Scotland.

Watch as they wander around their new enclosure and munch on bamboo from the glass walkway. You can even catch up on their progress from the comfort of your own home via webcams located around the enclosure. During your visit, learn surprising facts about the solitary existence of these extraordinary animals and the steps being taken by conservationists around the world to ensure their survival.

The pandas are sure to receive an ecstatic reception and have even had a tartan commissioned specially in their honour! To see the pandas, you need to pre-book your Panda Viewing tickets before you visit the zoo. These tickets are available at no extra cost to the normal admission price and must be booked online when purchasing entry tickets for the zoo.
