Our Dynamic Earth
Learn all about our fascinating planet at Edinburgh’s wonderfully interactive attraction Our Dynamic Earth. Travel back in time to 15,000 million years ago to Earth’s creation and watch the Big Bang through the Hubble Telescope before following the planet through its evolution as you explore the museum. Be careful on your adventure though, as you may find yourself in the middle of a volcano on the brink of erupting or caught in a thundering tropical rainstorm! And beware of charging rhinos and stinging scorpions as you experience a stunning 4D show that takes you on a thrilling expedition across the world.
Camera Obscura and World of Illusions
See Edinburgh in a unique way at the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions and explore five floors of entertaining attractions and interactive displays. Find out if you can stay on your feet in the colourful Giant Vortex Tunnel or shrink yourself like Alice in Wonderland in the amazing Ames Room. Discover what it is like to pick a person up on your hand or see the city from inside a giant camera. Enjoy superb rooftop views with free telescopes and binoculars and a range of other unusual and exciting tricks like swapping heads and noses or turning yourself into a baby or monkey! Suitable for all ages, the Camera Obscura is the perfect place for a fun-filled afternoon.
The Edinburgh Dungeon
Descend into the Edinburgh Dungeon for a scary journey through Scotland’s gruesome history, if you dare! Make it through the 17th century courtroom without being sent to your doom then learn about a ghastly collection of instruments first-hand from a torturer - just hope he doesn’t demonstrate them on you. Meet infamous murderers Burke and Hare and frightening cannibal Sawney Bean in his dank cave, along with his hungry family. Continue on to the gallows in the breathtaking Extremis: Drop Ride to doom and, if you survive, try and find your way out of the terrifying mirrored Labyrinth of Lost Souls to escape the horror of the dungeons.
