Height gain: 86 metres
OS Map: Explorer 350 Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Old Town walk is centred on the Royal Mile which runs along the crag-and-tail rock formation under the streets from the Castle down to Holyrood Palace. It is packed with notable architecture and fascinating history, being home to some of the world's earliest 'high rise' buildings. Take your time as there are plenty of distractions, museums, shops and places to eat and drink on the way.
Access
Take the Waverley Bridge exit from Waverley Rail Station
Additional information
An easy walk with streets and pavements but the Old Town is steep and there are many steps.
