Snowdrops at the Hermitage of Braid.
But don't forget your binoculars as you might be surprised by the amazing birdlife you might encounter;
herons, kestrels, kingfishers, song thrush and even tawny owls can be regularly seen.

Look out for species such as lesser celandine.

Tip toe by the Bluebells at Ravelston Woods.
Although relatively widespread throughout Britain, the bluebell is globally threatened. The UK
population accounts for 25-29% of the world population, making us internationally responsible
for its continued survival. There are only a handful of places in Edinburgh where you can see
native bluebells - Ravelston Woods is the best.
June
Explore the amazing miniature sealife contained within the rock pools of Joppa Rocks.
Look out for hermit crabs, anemone and limpets.
July
Wander through the Pinetum of Cammo Estate.
Species of trees you may see include Monkey Puzzle, redwood and Japanese Umbrella Pine.
August
See the bats at dusk fluttering over Blackford pond.
Look out for daubentons and pipistrelle - both endangered species. During the day, you
will get close encounters with swans, coots, mallards and geese.
September
Be on the look out for the abundance of wild food on the Water of Leith, such as brambles,
raspberries and mint.
