Georgian House, The National Trust of Scotland

null Discover high society living and "life below stairs" in Edinburgh's New Town - 18th century style! You'll find superb collections of china, silver, paintings and furniture in one of the most modern townhouses of its day. The House dates from 1796 when Edinburgh's well-to-do left the cramped, squalid conditions of the Old Town to settle in the fashionable New Town. We don't think that a trip to Edinburgh is complete unless you've visited The Georgian House!

The National Trust for Scotland is a charity, so if you visit us, you'll be helping us to look after this special place for future generations to enjoy.

Contrast with 17th-century life in the Old Town at Gladstone's Land
