Blues and Jazz Festival in Edinburgh
25 July - 3 August 2008
Whether you like your jazz cool and contemporary or are strictly old school, the 2008 Jazz and Blues Festival will be a celebration of all things jazz and will bring some of the world's best performers to Edinburgh. And the 2008 event also marks the 30th anniversary of the Jazz Festival.
The 30th festival will will bring jazz to parks, concert halls, a Spiegeltent and bars throughout the city and it is also the city's most diverse festival to date.
Some Festival highlights for 2007 included American icons Benny Golson and Dr Lonnie Smith, as well as some of Britain's most famous names in jazz, Temperence Seven, Courtney Pine, Tommy Smith, Martin Taylor and the BBC Big Band - not to mention Edinburgh's own Tommy Sampson. Also unmissable are the free outdoor concerts - the Mardi Gras in the city's Grassmarket and Jazz On A Summers Day in Princes Street Gardens.
